RaceWax Pro Tune Digital Iron Ski Snowboard Tuning Kit - (MR-9505)

I made a bench setup to tune skis and it was time to purchase the tools. I did a lot of research to figure out what tools were needed for a DIY tune as I've never done this before. Once I landed on the RaceWax website, I realized that buying a kit made the most sense because I was basically starting from scratch for tools and they have put together many kits to suit various needs. I also noticed that there was a significant value when buying a kit over purchasing individual tools. I contacted RaceWax via text to customize the kit for me to get the right angle guides for my skis and they were responsive and accommodated my specific requirements. The kit showed up and was exactly customized as agreed to making me very satisfied with RaceWax. After watching several videos on ski tuning, I found it easy to do and now my edges are sharp and the bases are fast. Ski tuning is actually kinda fun! I would definitely recommend RaceWax.

Assuming swix is a gold standard, this is an all inclusive stater kit that balances a complete kit versus extremely high up front cost of going all swix. I personally feel like the beast base edge runner device is overrated. The included 1° beast device doesn't match a swix world cup pro 1°. The beast was greater than 1° both in measurement and when retuning with Swix base device. Otherwise everything works. Each included wax is enough for about 8 tunes. I was disappointed that it's considered swix cleanup or maintenance wax and not a performance or race wax but a marked improvement was immediate felt on the boards over the previously used glide on tune-up wax. The included Toyo file is simply inferior in size and quality to the comparable swix edge file. The 2nd immediately worthy upgrade. Other needed items include plexi scraper sharpener. Maybe 8 or 10 uses and the plexi scraper is worthless without re-sharpening. Also, a sidewall clearer. I have yet to use it, but there was a fair amount of sidewall material present in the material shavings after tuning a few pairs of skis. The rubber foot on the clamp punctured at the point of contact with the edge sharpener guide. Damage was averted by sliding the rubber foot a few millimeters off the foot getting intact rubber to prevent damage to the edge tuning device.

Therefore if you're trying to build a functional kit, this kit is a great starting point. If your trying to build one kit to last knowing diamond stones, gummi stones and wax wear out and need replaced, I would personally build one kit out of the best quality items. I would even buy some of those items used versus new middle tier.

As someone that heated up a pot on the stove for years and years of waxing duty and did it successfully and handily repurposed general tools for tuning, then the specific tools better offer a clear cut advantage. For edge tuning this kit is a start with the particular upgrades mentioned above. For waxing, the digital iron, base surface repair capability, scraping and brushing, this kit was completely capable. New school swix brushes are considered better but I have yet to see it in person. I highly recommend this kit, it's just too bad this is the highest quality kit offered by racewax which is barely capable of tuning race skis as delivered. I'm sure higher quality is not financially viable as a kit, but racewax should not market this as such. I highly recommend this over other available highest quality starter kits readily available from online retailers.

Got this kit and had everything I needed for some tuning and waxing. Love the digital iron as well!

Great Kit - Better Versatility
This kit is more versatile in the long run. Why? Because you can use any length files with the side edge plates and the Beast bottom edge device. My friend has the swix edge and bottom all in one red tool and he loves it. So that kit works well too. I like this one better. Tuned and waxed to pair and I am very happy with results.
